The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ GEORGIA MAE (COLE) SMITH OCNS - April 8, 2002 - Mrs. Georgia Mae (Cole) Smith, 71, widow of Mr. Emmett Samuel Smith, Jr., and a native area resident, died at 5:05 a.m., April 5, 2002, in the Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where she had been a resident since January 28. Mrs. Smith will lie in state in The Arnold Moore - Barnsdall Funeral Home where friends may call for their visitation until she is removed for final rites on Tuesday afternoon. An Oklahoma native, Georgia Mae Cole was born at Sand Creek in Osage County, the daughter of Rance and Elvia Rosetta (Carpenter) Tullock) Cole. She was reared and received her early education in Sand Creek schools and completed her education at Claremore, Oklahoma. She and Emmett Samuel Smith, Jr., were united in marriage on June 5, 1950, in Bartlesville and made their home on the Emmett Samuel Smith Ranch in Osage County. Mr. Smith preceded her in death on May 31, 1998, at the family ranch. She was a former resident of the ranch home in Osage County and moved to Barnsdall, Oklahoma, for a short residency before moving to Bartlesville in October of 2000 to continue living in retirement. Survivors are a daughter, Ms Sandy Putman of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sons, Alan Ray Smith of Norman, Oklahoma, and Michael Wayne Smith of rural Barnsdall; three grandchildren, David Smith of Dewey, Oklahoma, and Carol Smith and Steven Smith both of Bartlesville; a great granddaughter, Brooke Smith of Dewey; a brother, Jim Tullock of Houston, Missouri; several nieces and nephews and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy F. Smith of Barnsdall. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Latha "Hope" Cole, Evelyn Cole and Mrs. Margie Grass. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the First Methodist Church, Barnsdall, Oklahoma, with Reverend M.L. Teel officiating. Committal prayers and interment will be directed in the Ethel Reese Cemetery (Barnsdall) by The Arnold Moore - Barnsdall Funeral Home.
