Worl Barnsdall Times January 23, 1936 Worl Boy Killed As He Jumps From Running Car Harold Worl, nine year old son of Mr. And Mrs. J. A. Worl, who lives just south of town, died Friday evening a few minutes following injuries to him when he jumped from a running car, near his home. His death was caused from injuries to his head at the base of the brain. He died before he could be brought to town to a doctor. The young Worl boy was riding home from school in the back end of a Ford pick-up, with a neighbor boy, Warren Vandiver, also in the back end. The truck was being driven by Kasper Clem, and with him in the cab were his brother, Penrod Clem, and Jack West. According to other boys in the truck, they had forgotten to stop to let the Worl boy out of the car, and when only about 100 yards past the Worl home the boy jumped out the back end. They had gone only a short distance on down the road when the VAndiver boy called to them and they stopped to find out what he wanted. He told them the Worl boy had jumped off the truck and when they went back and picked him up, they believed he was dead. He was hurried to town to a doctor and after a thorough examination was pronounced dead. Judge J. T. Pearson investigated the accident and reported it to the county attorney who said there was no need of an inquest. Funeral services were held at the BAptist Church Sunday afternoon, with Rev. Frank Allee delivering the funeral sermon. Three songs, "Does Jesus Care", "Rock of Ages" and "When They Ring Those Golden Bells: were sung. Henderson's Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Harold Kenneth Worl, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A.
