WHILES OCNS - August 19, 2002 - Henry C. Whiles, 78, longtime resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma passed away in his home Sunday, August 18, 2002. Henry Clay Whiles, Jr., was born November 16, 1923 in Pawnee County, Oklahoma, the son of Henry Clay, Sr., and Ethel Marie (Rambo) Whiles. He married Ruby M. Cass November 9, 1942, in Winfield, Kansas. She preceded him in death October 29, 2000. The Whiles owned and operated the City Laundry in Pawhuska from 1955 to 1975 and Henry was retired from the Pawhuska School System, where he worked in the maintenance department for many years. He enjoyed working in the vegetable garden he grew in his back yard each year and was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include: A sister, Anna Mae Green; six grandchildren, Mark McVey and wife, Jonie, Lou Sellers and husband, Ted, Rhonda Kupiec, Clay McVey, Sandra Dodds and Clara Wilson; ten great grandchildren, Jeff Clawson, Megan McVey, Stevie McVey, Valerie Boe, Gill Cox, Scott Cox, Bruce McVey, Matthew McVey, Curt Wilson and Cheyenne Wilson; seven great great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, Ruby, Henry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lewis Whiles and Arthur Whiles and his daughter, Lois Ann Wilson. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 22, 2002 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Newman of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery at Ralston, Oklahoma. Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, is in charge of arrangements.
