FOWLER OCNS - August 21, 2002 - Herbert L. Fowler, 64, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2002, in the Pawhuska Hospital. Herbert L. Fowler, Jr., was born November 23, 1937 in Drumright, Oklahoma, the sun of Herbert Luther and Luella (Kelly) Fowler, Sr. February 26, 1960 he married Janet Louise Bright in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Prior to retiring, Herb worked at the Safeway Grocery Stores in Pawhuska, Cleveland, Oklahoma and Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Pawhuska Elks Lodge #2542, where he had served in many capacities, including Past Exalted Ruler and was an active participant in the Elk's Drug Awareness Program. He attended the Lynn Baptist Church. Survivors include: His wife, Janet Louise Fowler of the home; a daughter, Debra Fowler Hartness of Pawhuska; two sons, Raymond Fowler of Pawhuska, and Scott Fowler of San Diego, California; five grandchildren, Sheilah Fowler, Vincent Hartness, Michael Ammons Benefiel, Christopher Ammons and Brad Benefiel; a daughter-in-law, Tonja Benefiel; a brother, James Howard Fowler of Pawhuska; three sisters, Mary Hagen of Tulsa, Ruth Dickinson of Cushing, Oklahoma and Charlene Wilson of Midland, Texas and a host of other family and friends. Herb was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lewis Fowler. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, in the Pappin Cemetery, north of Pawhuska with Reverend Frank Adams officiating. Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, is in charge of arrangements.
