(McCLAIN) SEWELL OCNS - Former Pawhuska, Oklahoma, resident, Judith A. (McClain) Sewell, 59, passed away October 20, 2001, in Richton Park, Illinois, after a courageous battle with cancer. Judith McClain was born August 9, 1942 in Pawhuska, the daughte of Torence "Tony" and Cecelia "Smuggs" (Labadie) McClain. She attended Pawhuska Schools, graduating with the PHS Class of 1960. Following graduation from Oklahoma State University, Judy married James "Buddy" Sewell in Pawhuska. She was a kindergarten teacher at Marion Yates Middle School in Richton Park, Illinois, a wonderful wife, mother, teacher and friend. Survivors are: her husband, James "Buddy" Sewell of the home; her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jeff Heitman of Chicago, Illinois; her son, Steve Sewell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her mother, Cecelia "Smuggs" Mcclain and an aunt, Thelma Benson, both of Pawhuska; and a host of other relatives and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Frederick W. McClain. Mass was recited October 25, 2001, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska with interment in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Father Leonard Higgins officiated. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
