John was born August 10, 1916, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the son of Herbert Stewart and Delta Gertrude (Redburn) Patterson. He was united in marriage June 19, 1992, in Miami, Oklahoma to May Belle Burns Ikenberry. A member of The First United Methodist Church, he was a retired truck driver for the Santa Fe Railway. An avid gardener, John was known for his gardening ability. Survivors are: his wife, May Belle Patterson of the home; four brothers and their spouses: Herbert Paul and Joyce Patterson of Lebanon, Oregon; Charles Patterson, Raymond and Lucille Patterson and James and Mae Belle Patterson, all of Ponca City, Oklahoma; step children: Sonny and Billie Mounts of Pawhuska; Jean and Delbert Smith and Robert and Sharon Ikenberry of Spiro, Oklahoma; and Lynda and M.R. Floyd of Cleveland, Oklahoma; numerous step grandchildren, including, Tim Alley of Wellston, Oklahoma and other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by a daughter, Alcesta Marie Patterson, his parents, three brothers; Donald Patterson, Harold Patterson and Lee Patterson and a sister, Jennie Stewart. Services were held Monday, February 4, at 2:00 p.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Hager officiating. Burial was in the Pawhuska Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
