All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== The Hominy News - Progress Vol. 34, No. 12 March 20, 2002 Page 5 Steven Patrick Kendrick Steven Patrick Kendrick was born Sept. 18, 1959 in Coronado, CA. He was the son of A. B. and Emma Jo Kendrick. Steve initially was raised and attended school in California prior to moving to Hominy in 1976. He graduated from Hominy High School in 1977 after attending school there for one year. Upon graduation, Steve enlisted into the service of his country in the United States Army Reserve. After attending boot camp and initial training, Steve was assigned to the National Guard in Hominy. Upon returning to Hominy, Steve began working in the oilfields of Northeastern Oklahoma in the logging and perforation business, working for numerous companies. Steve was married to Joyce Blue on March 21, 1981 in Hominy. The couple made their home in the Cleveland area and had three sons, Brock, Steven and Johnathan. Steve began a career in pipefitting when he accepted employment with Word Industries in 1984. He continued to work for Word for nearly eleven years before moving to Pro-Fab for a couple years. He later returned to work for the Shaw Group Inc. and has continued to be employed there until his death. Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his favorite hobby was restoring classic cars. He spent countless hours after work working on his cars, restoring each aspect of the car to a like new condition. Steve was associated with the Western Heights Baptists Church. Steve saved and enhanced many lives, through the Gift of Life, Organ Donation Program when he passed away on Sat. March 16, 2002 at the Tulsa Regional Medical Center at the age of forty-two years, five months and twenty-eight days. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Cameron Kendrick and Kevin Del Kendrick. He is survived by his wife Joyce Diane Kendrick, of the home; three sons, Brock Anthony Kendrick, Steven Roger Kendrick, and Johnathan Kendrick, all of the home; parents, A. B. and Emma Jo Kendrick, Cleveland; three brothers, mark Alan Kendrick, Wildomar, CA., Randall Scott Kendrick, Antioch, CA., and Sean Joel Kendrick, Cleveland; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tues. March 19, 2002 at the Western Heights Baptist Church with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland.
