Services were held at the First United Methodist Church on Sun. Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Wanda Murray officiating. Interment followed at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater. Services were under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. Caroline Killian was born Ruth Caroline Brewer on May 24, 1912, in Oklahoma City, to Frank Wilson and Maud Smith Brewer. The family soon relocated to a ranch near Indiahoma, OK, where the Brewers raised their four daughters. Mrs. Killian graduated from Indiahoma Schools and then attended Cameron College and Central State Teachers' College. After teaching school one year, she attended Oklahoma A&M College, where she met Byrle Garner Killian. They were married April 25, 1937. After living in Guthrie where Mr. Killian taught Vocational Agriculture, the couple returned to Stillwater where Mr. Killian advanced to his career with the State Vocational Educational Department. Stillwater became their lifelong home where they raised their children. Caroline enjoyed telling how her father rode his horse from Indiana to Oklahoma City to practice veterinary medicine. It was there that he met and married Maud Smith, who had arrived by train to work at St. Anthony Hospital after her nurse's training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. Her love of history was the basis for her interest in genealogy. She spent many happy hours roving her lineage for numerous patriotic organizations, including National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons, Daughters of the American Colonists, National Society of Dames XVII Century, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Caroline was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, a Charter Member of Chapter IP of the PEO Sisterhood, Zeta Tau Alpha Alumnae, RAR, and the Bridge Club. Caroline Killian is preceded by her parents, her husband, and her sisters Mary Lee Friels and Margaret Martin. She is survived by her son Ed and his wife Judy of OKC, and her daughter Carol Ann Drummond and her husband Leslie of Hominy, and grandchildren Karlene McCarty and her husband Dave of Edmond, Suzanna Killian of Yukon, Gentner and Catherine Drummond of Tulsa, David Drummond of Tulsa, Jonathan and Catherine Drummond of Tulsa, David Drummond of Tulsa, Jonathan and LeAnn Drummond of Stillwater, and Caroline Tawwater and her husband Darren of Edmond, great-grandchildren Connor and Corrine McCarty, Savannah Hartness, Cate, Alexander, Madeline, and Jackson Drummond, Allison and Christine Drummond, and Ben Tawwater. She is also survived by her sister Winifred Watkins of Lawton and nephew Jim McLauchlin and his wife Nedra of Stillwater, plus many other fine nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Caroline was particularly blessed in her final years by having the tender care of her beloved grandson Jonathan and her friend Freda Lee.
