April 2, 2002. She was born on June 10, 1947 in Hominy. She had been a resident of Amarillo for 34 years. Janean was a 1965 graduate of Hominy High School. She spent most of her life as a bookkeeper. She recently began making telephone calls from her home on behalf of American Council for the Blind. Janean was preceded in death by her parents Jean Garrett Osmus and Floyd Mercer, her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Everett Garrett and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mercer. She is survived by two sons, Dan Mercer of Amarillo, and Josh Mercer of Austin; Aunt Dasle Kent of Hominy; Cousin Kathy Cable of Pauls Valley; Aunt Gay Garrett of Hominy; Cousins Diana Garrett and Lisa Weaver of Hominy, and David Garrett of San Antonio. Memorial services were at 1 p.m. Thurs. April 4, 2002 in Rose Chapel at BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. The family suggests memorials be to American Council for the Blind, 403 S. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79106.
