The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ JEWEL MARIE (GILBERT) TOWNLEY OCNS - April 11, 2002 - Mrs. Jewel Marie (Gilbert) Townley, 87, former long time resident of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, died at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2002, in the Bartlesville Care Center. Jewel Marie Gilbert was born June 12, 1914, at Nauvoo, Alabama, the daughter of John David and Mary Bell (Plunkett) Gilbert. She was reared and received her education at Nauvoo where, on January 6, 1933, she and Lucian Monroe Townley were married. They established their first home at Bear Creek, Alabama in Marion County where they farmed until later moving to Deering, Missouri, where they continued their farming interests until they moved to Barnsdall. Mr. Townley passed away January 13, 1999 and Mrs. Townley remained a resident of Barnsdall until she moved to Bartlesville about a year ago. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons; Virgil Lee Townley of Wynona, Oklahoma, Delbert Dee Townley and Edith of Bartlesville and William Hollis Townley of Barnsdall; two daughters, Mrs. Louise (Motley) Dunaway and Ira of Vinita, Oklahoma and Mrs. Mary Alice Downing and Levi of Barnsdall; nineteen grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and seventeen great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Kenneth Earl Townley, a daughter, Mary Jane Townley, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2002we in the Barnsdall Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Edgar Beaver officiating. Committal prayers and interment will be directed in the Ethel Reese Cemetery, Barnsdall, by the Arnold Moore-Barnsdall Funeral Home.
