CARNAGEY OCNS - October 11, 2001 - Longtime resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Kenneth W. Carnagey, 80, passed away Monday, October 8, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Mr. Carnagey was born August 26, 1921, in Hominy, Oklahoma, the son of Chester and Lucinda (Walden) Carnagey. On January 25, 1942, he married Lois E. Steveson, in Hominy. Kenneth worked as produce manager at Bill's Supermarket in Bartlesville for twenty-seven years before retiring and also worked for the Safeway (Homeland) grocery stores for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska, where he had served as a Sunday School teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School, member of the Choir and member of the Finance Committee. Kenneth was serving as a Deacon of the Church at the time of his death. Survivors include: his wife, Lois E. Carnagey of the home; two sons, James Carnagey and wife, Ruth, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma and Bob Carnagey and wife, Kelly, of Hominy, Oklahoma; a daughter, Susan Woodward and husband, Woody, of Tulsa; two brothers, Erman Carnagey and wife, Rudene of Greenville, Texas, and Richard Carnagey and wife, Beppy, of Whitesboro, Texas; five granddaughters: Lisa, Lori, Amber, Kala and Mary Jo, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a son, Terry Michael Carnagey in 1950, and five siblings: merle, Helen, Chet, Ray and Audra. Services were held Thursday, October 11, at 10:00 a.m., in the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska with Dr. Larry Wallace officiating. Interment was in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery, Hominy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
