Visitation: December 26, 2002 Service: December 27, 2002 Cemetery: Woodland Cemetery Karen Lynn Weldon was born June 30, 1958 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Elmer and Shirley Mayfield. Karen was raised and attended most of her schooling in Burbank and Shidler. She moved to Duncan in 1976 and graduated from Ducan High School in 1977. Shortly after graduation, Karen was married to Steve Weldon on November 11, 1977 at the First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma. The couple established their home in Cleveland and had two children, Stacey and Steven. Karen dedicated her life to being a loving wife and mother and was proud of her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Sierra and often heard saying that "Sierra would rock your world." Additionally she enjoyed a close relationship with her parents and sisters. She spent countless hours enjoying hand crafts including, woodworking, painting, quilting and other crafts. She also liked to walk and was especially proud of her participation in Cleveland's most recent, "Walk for the Cure." Karen also has been serving as a substitute teacher in the Cleveland Public Schools during the past couple of years. Karen was baptized into the family of Christ at Feyodi Creek in April of 1985. She has been a faithful member of the First Baptist Church for many years, attending services until her recent hospitalization. Karen passed away on Monday, December 23, 2002 at the Saint Francis Hospital after a nearly two year battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Lea (Mayfield) Walker and a brother, Jimmy Jack Mayfield. Karen is survived by her husband, Steve Weldon, of the home; daughter, Stacy Lynn and her husband, Brian Gray, Cleveland, Oklahoma; son, Steven Craig Weldon, II, Cleveland, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Sierra Lynn Gray, Cleveland, Oklahoma; parents, Elmer and Shirley Mayfield, Burbank, Oklahoma; five sisters, Mona Mayo, Jane, Missouri, Rose Rhodes, Edmond, Oklahoma, Jenny Voss, Brighton, Colorado, Jenna Hilbert, Cleveland, Oklahoma, and Kathy Benton, Cleveland, Oklahoma; and her father-in-law, Lewis Weldon, Cleveland, Oklahoma, Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2002 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating.
