Swanson Alma Dean Swanson born July 18, 1927 Lincoln, Ark. She was the daughter of Ira Lewis and Elisie Huler. She moved with her family at an early age to Osage where she was raised and attended school. Alma graduated from Osage High School in 1946 as her class valedictorian. Upon graduation from high school, Alma attended Graughon School of Business in Tulsa for a couple of years. She was married to Robert A. Swanson on Oct. 1, 1949 in Tulsa. The couple made their initial home in Tulsa and then relocated a few times during the next few years to Sarcuse, KS, Lamar, Co., and then settling in Haxtun, Co for nearly fifteen years. The couple had three children, Jeffery, Gregory and Saundra. While residing in Colorado, Alma obtained her Associate Degree from North East Junior College in Sterling, Co., where she was honored by being on the Dean's List. The couple returned to Tulsa in 1969 and Alma accepted employment with the Fotomat Company as Area Manager. She was later employed at Read's Department Store where she worked until recently. Alma was always extremely devoted to her work. Robert, her husband of nearly thirty years, preceded her in death on June 4, 1978. In addition to her husband, Alma was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Berlin, Jack and Ira. Alma passed away in Norman, Tues. April 2, 2002 at the age of 74 years eight months and fourteen days. Alma is survived by her two sons, Jeffery Swanson, Tulsa and Gregory and his wife, Laetitia Swanson of Dietzenbach, Germany; daughter, Saundra Myers, Norman; sister, Norma Dixon, Hominy; and two grandchildren, Danielle Nicole Swanson, Tahlequah and Jeremy Robert Swanson of Dietzenbach, Germany. A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Mon. April 8, 2002 at the Chapel of Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Robert Prater officiating. Burial was held at the Osage Cemetery in Osage under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
