The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fairfax Chief Thursday, November 21, 1967 Service Is Saturday For Allen Thompson Funeral services were 2 p.m. last Saturday in the First Methodist church here for Allen Thompson, long-time area resident who died in Fairfax Memorial hospital last Thursday following a brief illness. Services were by Rev. Carl C. Morgan, assisted by Rev. Marion McGuire, pastor, and interment was in Fairfax cemetery, directed by Hunsaker's Funeral home. For many years he had driven the commuter bus between Fairfax and Field Corner and was ticket agent here. He had been a farmer, school teacher and peace officer before taking over the bus route many years ago. Joseph Allen Thompson was born July 1, 1885 at Mt. Hersey, Newton county, Ark., the son of James E. Thompson and Georgia Thompson, and died Nov. 11, 1967 at an age of 82 years. He married Maud Chambers May, 1904, at Yardelle, Ark. She preceded him in death June 15, 1951. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ralph S. Thompson, and by one sister and a brother. The Thompson family came to Glencoe, Okla, in 1918 from Yardelle, Ark., and moved to Hominy in 1922. They came to Fairfax in 1936. He is survived by one son, Charles Loman Chambers, Pawhuska; four daughters, Mrs. Harold Linscott and Mrs. L. D. Deaton, both of Wann; Mrs. Winifred Williams, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Georgiana McFadden, of the home; 15 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; one brother, Willard Thompson, Tahlequah; and three sisters, Jennie Dollahon, Myrtle Gray and Elizabeth Boyd, all of Tahlequah. Pallbearers were Lee Reddick, George Wayman, Herman Rhoads, Tommy Rhoads, Jack Hazen and L. C. Brown.
