The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LOUISE RUSH NEWPORT OCNS - February 13, 2001 - Louise (Satchell) Rush Newport, 93, passed away, February 9, in the Pawhuska (Oklahoma) Nursing Home following an extended illness. Born October 17, 1907 in DeQueen, Arkansas, the daughter of Tony and Minnie (Feemster) Satchell and, in 1918, moved with her family to Pawhuska where she remained. July 17, 1924, Louise and Edwin Rush, a local carpenter, were married in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and they had four children, Rueben, Stanley, Jim and Annabelle. Edwin preceded Louise in death September 1, 1949. May 5, 1961, Louise and Pat Newport, who owned The Pat Newport Chevrolet Company and later was in the insurance business, were married in Pawhuska. Pat preceded her in death November 11, 1991. Louise was a member of The First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed working in her church, her yard and with her flowers. She worked for some time at the C.R. Anthony Store in Pawhuska. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Annabelle and Gale Roark and a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Joyce Rush, all of Pawhuska; two sisters, Thelma Copenhaver of Pawhuska and Rosa Lee Pigg of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren two great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Monday, February 12, in The Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Pawhuska Cemetery. Reverend Scott Fischer officiated under the direction of The Johnson Funeral Home.
