The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OLLIE SUSAN WORKMON RIDER OCNS - October 17, 2000 - Ollie Rider, 101, former resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and mother of Academy Award winner, Ben Johnson, Jr., passed away October 16, in Mesa, Arizona. Ollie was born May 20, 1899 in Sac River, Missouri, the daughter of John and Cynthia Myriah (Crane) Workmon. She married Fredie Fay Rider September 4, 1940 in Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death May 16, 1970. Survivors include two grandsons; Ben Miller of Queen Creek, Arizona and John Miller and wife, Barbara of Cave Creek, Arizona; a granddaughter, Ann Whitehorn and husband, Doug of Pawhuska; nine great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Gertie Epps. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rider was predeceased by two brothers, two sisters, a daughter, Mary Ann Miller, a son, Ben (Son) Johnson, Jr., and his wife, Carol and a great-great granddaughter, Madison Miller. Services will be held Friday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska with Jon Tucker officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.
