CAMARGO OCNS - May 2, 2002 - Luis J. Camargo, 75, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2001 in the Pawhuska Hospital. Mr. Camargo was born May 19, 1926 in Morelia, Michoran, Old Mexico, the son of Salvadore J. and Concepcion (Lopez) Camargo. He was the oldest of eighteen children. He had served two years in the Mexican Calvary. On May 22, 1949, in Fairfax, Oklahoma, Luis married Vera Starns and they made their home in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He was a naturalized American citizen. Luis was an ardent outdoorsman and an avid traveler. He was a proud retiree from Texaco Oil Company, where he was employed as an oil field pumper for many years. He was a charter member of the Pawhuska Elks Lodge and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Survivors include: His wife, Vera of the home in Pawhuska; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Beverly Camargo of Pawhuska; a daughter and son- in-law, Sherri and Delmar Cunningham of Pawhuska; four grandsons, Sean Camargo and wife, Cajsa of Tulsa; Matthew Camargo and wife, Christina of Pawhuska; Robert Luis Wingfield of Wichita, Kansas and Phillip Leon Winfield and wife, Leslie of Ogden, Utah; two great grandsons, Abby Camargo of Tulsa and Trinity Marie Wingfield of Ogden, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass was held January 2, 2002, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Leonard Higgins officiating. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
