He was born February 14, 1933, the son of Oscar "Sonny Boy" and Pearl Evitt Howze and spent the bulk of his adult years as a native of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. His primary occupation was as a cook and most will remember him as the head chef at the Pawhuska Golf and Country Club until 1970. Alvin is survived by two sons, Gaylan L. Brown of Clarkesville, Tennessee, and Ronald G. Brown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Vanessa A. Brown and a stepdaughter, Betty Smith both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Arlene M. Brown. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2000 in The Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska, Oklahoma with burial to follow in The Pawhuska Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.
