Marie was born July 20, 1922 in Stringtown, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lesley T. and Virginia (Teer) Jones. In 1973, she married Clement Mason and the couple resided in Barnsdall. Marie was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Barnsdall and the American Legion Post #198 Auxiliary in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Survivors include: Her husband, Clement Mason of Barnsdall; three sons, Charles Scharnhorst and wife, Georgia, and Richard Scharnhorst and wife, Sharon, all of Barnsdall and Sam Scharnhorst of Tulsa; a daughter, Marion Brien and husband, John, of Blackburn, Oklahoma; a sister, Estelle Sarns of Oklahoma City; a half-sister, Oreta Parker of Grants Pass, Oregon; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Mrs. Mason was preceded in death by a son, Floyd Scharnhorst, a sister, Helen Bowhan and a half-daughter, Carol Tippett. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 29, in the Pawhuska (Oklahoma) City Cemetery with Reverend Phil Clements of the Barnsdall Assembly of God Church officiating. Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, is in charge of arrangements.
