MABEL (PIGG) LITTLE OCNS-February 22, 2000-Mrs. Mable (Pigg) Little, 87, widow of the late Hugh Carter Little, died at 9:28 a.m., Monday, February 21, 2000 in the Barnsdall Oklahoma Nursing Home. A native of Valley Springs, Arkansas, Mabel was born April 12, 1912, the daughter of Samp and Odie Pigg and was reared and received her education in Valley Springs where she graduated with the Senior Class of 1930 from Valley Springs High School. May 13, 1938 she married Hugh Carter Little at Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Mr. Little was employed with his father in the Little Hardware Store and also operated Little's Dairy Farm and was employed by the Oklahoma Department of Highways and Public Safety until his retirement in 1970. Mrs. Little was formerly employed by the Leo Diehl Grocery in Barnsdall and by the Barnsdall Board of Education for several years, where she served as Treasurer. Mr. Little died in Barnsdall in 1984 and Mrs. Little continued to live in the Barnsdall community until her retirement. Mrs. Little was an active member of the Barnsdall First United Methodist Church and the Outlook Study Club as well as the Webster Schrack American Legion Post #227 Auxiliary. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Hugh (Ann) Payne, of rural Bartlesville, Oklahoma and three grandchildren, Mrs. Tommy (Wendy) Ward, Wallace R. Payne and Mrs. Robert (Angela) Watson and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Little was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Maude Wallace, Delia Nichols, Helen Russell and Walsie Pitt and three brothers, Dallas Pigg, Homer Pigg and Willard Pigg. Mabel will lie in state in the Arnold Moore - Barnsdall Funeral Home where friends may call for visitation until she is removed to the Sanctuary of the Barnsdall First United Methodist Church for services which will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 24, with the Reverend M. L. Teel officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in the Ethel Reece Cemetery under the direction of Arnold Moore-Barnsdall Funeral Service.
