Visitation: September 29, 2002 Service: September 30, 2002 Cemetery: Woodland Cemetery [Photo included] Michael A. Greenly was born March 16, 1951 in Milford, Delaware. He was the son of Mitchell Cocker and Madeline E. (Southerd) Greenly. He moved with his family as a young child to Buena Park, California where he was raised and attended school, graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in 1969. Michael entered into the service of his country in the United States Army on March 28, 1972. He was honorably discharged on August 29, 1975 after serving his enlistment and returned to Buena Park. He was united in marriage to Nancy Kay Lee on March 20, 1976 in Buena Park. The couple had three children, Kristy, Michael and Jamie. During their stay in California, Michael received training and developed his carpentry skills and became a master cabinet maker, employed by Peterson Cabinets. They moved their family to Arkansas in 1982. While residing in Arkansas, Michael sustained injuries in a diving accident resulting in paralysis of most of his body. The couple then returned to California where they continued to reside until 1990, when they moved to Osage, Oklahoma to be near Nancy’s mother. Michael loved to watch football and was an avid racing fan of Dale Earnhart. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Cleveland and a member of the Paralyzed Veterans Association. Michael passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2002 at the VA Regional Medical Center in Muskogee at the age of fifty-one years, six months and ten days. He was preceded in death by a brother, David; and two sisters, Helena and Rose Mary. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; three children, Kristy and her husband, Mike Hosby of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Michael Greenly of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jamie and her husband, James Reynolds of Chino, California; parents, Mitchell and Madeline Greenly; three sisters, Brenda Zamorano, Margie Greenly and Mary Ann Miller; two brothers, Mark Greenly and Tom Greenly; two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Lillian Reynolds as well as many friends and other relatives. A Rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 29, 2002 and Funeral Mass was conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 30, 2002, both at Saint Joseph Catholic Church with Father Bruce Brosnahan acting as celebrant. Burial was at Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with military honors provided by the District, Veterans of Foreign War, Honor Guard.
