Death was not unexpected as she had been in ill health the past two years and her condition became critical the past four months after undergoing an operation in a Wichita hospital Funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at the First Methodist church in Fairfax conducted by Rev. Carl Morgan, assisted by the pastor, Rev. W. R. Brewer. Interment was in Fairfax cemetery in charge of the Hunsaker funeral home. Twelve members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol attended the services as honorary pallbearers to pay respect to the Thompson's son, Ralph, who had served many years with that organization and was chief of the patrol when resigning last fall to enter military service with the unit of which he was a reserve officer. Maud Shinn was born March 9, 1885, in Yardelle, Arkansas, one of thirteen children of Dr. T. J. and Elizabeth Shinn; passed away June 15, 1951, at the age of 66 years, 3 months, 6 days. In 1901 she was married to C. L. Chambers of Yardelle, and to this union was born a son, Charles Loman Chambers who now resides at Pawhuska, Okla. She was widowed by a tragic accident soon after the birth of her son. On May 1, 1904, at Yardelle, she was married to J. Allen Thompson. To this union were born five children all of whom survive. The Thompsons moved from Arkansas to a farm near Glencoe, Oklahoma, in 1918. They moved from there to Hominy in 1921, and in 1936 moved to Fairfax where they have since resided. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Methodist church at Grayhorse, in which community they resided for several years. She embraced the Christian religion at an early age and was an avid reader of the Bible, following its principles throughout her life. Immediate family survivors besides her husband include her son Loman Chambers of near Pawhuska; their four daughters and one son, Mrs. Lola Linscott of Montrose, Colorado, Mrs. Victoria Deaton of Wann, Okla., Mrs. Mildred Williams of El Reno, Okla., Lt. Ralph Thompson of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Mrs. Georgiana McFadden of Fairfax; one sister, Mrs. J. V. Gray of Hominy; two brothers, Sanders Shinn of Harrison, Arkansas, Ernie Shinn of Jasper, Arkansas. There are 15 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
