The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MELVIN CARL STIDHAM OCNS - May 3, 2002 - Melvin Carl Stidham, 71, of Livingston, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2002 at the Woodland Heights Medical Center, Lufkin, Texas. Graveside services will be Monday, Maya 6, at 2:00 p.m., in the Pawhuska City Cemetery, Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska. Mr. Stidham was born December 6, 1930, in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, the son of Edna Pearl (Knuckolls) and Clarence Stidham. He entered the U.S. Army in 1945 at the age of eighteen. He was discharged in 1951 as a Sergeant in the First Calvary Unit. While serving, Mr. Stidham was awarded four Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation and the Korean Presidential Citation. Mr. Stidham worked as a brick mason from 1952 until several months before his death. He spent much of his life in Osage County, Oklahoma, buy had lived the past thirteen years in Livingston with his wife, Dixie. Surviving are: his wife, Dixie Stidham of Livingston; a brother, Jerry Stidham and wife, Betty of Amarillo, Texas; four sons, Jack Buzbee and wife, Cathy of Pawhuska, Robert Buzbee and wife, Yvonne of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Carl Buzbee of Kansas and Steven McDaris of Wisconsin; four daughters, Cindy Hendren of Livingston, Carla Tanner and Melissa Owens both of Abilene, Texas, and Gay Steddent of Texas; five granddaughters, Christy Buzbee Sroufe, Sassy Hendren, Tesa Slater, Bobby Jo Powell, Sara Owens and Carol Dee Ann Buzbee; four grandson, Brady Buzbee, Jackie Buzbee, James Buzbee and Jonathan Buzbee, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends. Mr. Stidham was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Shannon Stidham, two brothers, Claude and Jack and one sister, Clara Jo.
