Mayes of Medford, died Feb. 23, 2005 at Medford Rehabilitation Center.Mr. Mayes was born on June 28, 1931, in DeNoya, Oklahoma to James Franklin Mayes and Emma E. Williford Brown. Jim attended schools in Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. He earned a BA degree in Theology from North Central Bible College, and School of Music, Minneapolis. He was an ordained Minister. Jim was employed by Pacific Power as an energy consultant. He worked in Medford, Coos Bay, Cottage Grove and Rock Springs, Wyoming where he retired. Jim was always involved with community affairs. He was on the Founding committee, Central point Area Chamber of Commerce and served two terms as first president. He also served as Director of Central Point Planning Commission, he was the Vice President of the Association of Jackson County Chambers, he was on the Jackson County Economic Development Committee, and was on Lane Community College as a Honorary Trustee, he was the President of Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce, the President of the Rock Springs Rotary Club and Lions Club, and he was on the State of Wyoming Economic Development and Stability Board. Jim received numerous awards for his community involvement. Survivors include a sister, F. Lorain. Tate, and her husband, Dominic of Central Point; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son,George Mayes; a brother, Loyd Mayes and half-brothers, Homer R. Brown and Herschel C. Brown. Arrangements: Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel.
