Powell Memorial Cemetery--Hominy OK The Hominy News - Progress Vol. 35, No. 20 Wednesday, May 15, 2002 Page 5 Charles Russell Maner Charles Russell Maner entered into rest on May 7, 2002 at his residence in Hominy. He was 87 years old. Russell was born in Locust Grove on December 2, 1914 to David A. and Jessie (Lindsay) Maner. He was raised in Locust Grove and attended school at Wilson School near Okmulgee. He moved to the Wildhorse area where he farmed and ranched until the Skiatook Lake was formed. Russell enjoyed fishing, he was an avid wolf hunter, he enjoyed going to the sale barns, and his conversations with Dr. Lafe Burnett and was a good cook. He was a member of Osage Co. Wolf Hunters association. Russell lived in Hominy until his passing. He was a father figure of his nieces and nephews lives. Russell was a very good friend to many and always thought the best of everyone. He was always willing to help others. Russell is survived by five nephews: David Maner and his wife Carol of Talahina; Robert Maner and his wife Jo of Collinsville; Walter Maner of Tahlequah; James Maner and his wife Betty of Manhattan, KS; and Ronnie Cable of Stillwater; five nieces: Linda Hamilton and her husband Glenn of St. George, KS; Carol Rogers and her husband Bill of Sun City, AZ; Shirley Wynn and her husband Ralph of Tulsa; Shirley Williams and her husband Larry of Tahlequah; and Evelyn Capps and her husband Steve of Wichita; 13 great nieces and nephews, 19 great-great nieces and nephews, six great- great-great nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers. Services for Charles Russell Maner were held on Fri May 10, 2002, at the First Baptist Church. Interment was at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy. Rev. Mark Wright officiated. Serving as Pall Bearers were David Chambers, Jeff Chambers, mark Chambers, David Maner Jr., Dusty Maner, Gary Maner, and Jim Perrier. Honorary Pall Bearers were Audie Adams, Jack Cox, Wesley Bray, Milton Holmes, Jim Reed and Jimmy Reed.
