Barkley Nash, 91, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 3 p.m. Sunday at Lucas & Thompson Funeral Home, 137 E. Hill Street in Keller. Burial: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Pawhuska, Okla. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Lawrence Hammond will officiate. She was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Oklahoma, and most of her life was spent in Oklahoma and Kansas. She moved to Texas in 1997. Dorris was active in the Democratic Party and served as chairperson of several county organizations. In 1964, she was selected as as elector from Oklahoma for the presidential election. During the 1960s, Dorris served as grand matron of the Eastern Star organization in Shidler, Okla. She was a member of the Shidler Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served on many committees. Dorris worked as a cosmetologist and a college resident hall administrator. She was a special woman with a wonderful sense of humor, beauty and intelligence. Her life was devoted to her family, and she will be greated missed. Dorris was preceded in death by her grandson, granddaughter and husband, Richard Henry Nash Jr. Survivors: Son, Richard H. Nash III; daughters, Nancy A. Codding and husband, Harold, and Christina K. LeGrande; stepsons, Donald E. Nash and Thomas R. Nash; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
