O'Keefe In the early morning hours of July 18, 2001, Paul D. O'Keefe of Ft. Towson, died peacefully in his sleep. Retired Commander O'Keefe was born in Ft. Towson on July 13, 1924, the son of James H. O'Keefe and Myrtle May Davis. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepmother Ada V. Allen O'Keefe of Antlers and youngest son James William O'Keefe of Valliant. He joined the Navy as a young man and began his first career as a dive bomber pilot in World War II. He was subsequently transferred to the Naval Supply Corps and served as an aide to three different Admirals while stationed in California and Hawaii. Paul had a Bachelors degree in Science and a Master's in education. Commander O'Keefe also served on a Staff of Fleet Air Wing 3 in the Pacific and office Director of the Naval Supply Corps in Washington, D.C. He retired from the Navy in the mid-60's, becoming the Broker- owner of a real estate corporation in northern Virginia for the next 13 years. In 1976, he and his wife, Marlynn Ann Fleck, O'Keefe moved back to Oklahoma where he entered into a new career in city government, beginning as the City Manager of Broken Bow, maintaining a circuit of small Oklahoma townships and the cities of Hominy, Madill and Tonkawa. He retired from city government in 1999, continuing with grant writing and other administrative services. He is survived by his wife, Marlynn Ann O'Keefe of Ft. Towson, son, Paul Jeffrey O'Keefe of Weems, VA; two daughters Dee Ann Cooper of Lumberton, TX and Gail Patricia Antonucco of Amarillo, TX; sister, Jimmie Marie Dunham and nephew Don Dunham, both of Albuquerque, NM; daughter-in-law Nancy Virginia O'Keefe of Valliant, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is loved and missed by all.
