She was born January 9, 1928 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clifford and Rose (Neal) Hill. An Osage Indian, Mary Ann attended the Pawhuska Catholic School, the Mary Mount Boarding School, Salina, Kansas and graduated from The Mt. Carmel Boarding School in Wichita, Kansas. Mary Ann was married May 29, 1970 in Mentone, Texas to Francis E. "Buddy" Simpkins who survives at the home in Pawhuska. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Klash Kah She Club. Survivors in addition to her husband are three children and their spouses: R.E. & Nola Yarbrough, Lee Ann and Larry Ammons and Melissa and Rex Curry all of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, James Walker Martin, Robert Ezekiel Yarbrough III, Elijah McCord Daugherty, Iris Christine Daugherty, Ahren James Currey and Morgan Rose Currey; four great grandchildren, Skylar James Martin, Kendall Lawrence Martin, Alexis Paige Martin and McKenna Nicole Martin; a sister Mildred Trough and a host of other relatives and friends. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Aloysius Hill and Raymond Hill, two sisters, Clara May Neal and Pauline Hill. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 17, in The Wakon Iron Community Building, Indian Camp, Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2000 in The Immaculate Conception Catholc Church in Pawhuska with burial to follow in The Pawhuska Cemetery. Father Leonard Higgins will officiate under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.
