O'Neal Mary F. O'Neal was born March 15, 1908 in Blue Mountain, ARK. She was the daughter of William Melford and Susie Lavina Ward. Mary was initially raised and attended school in the Blue Mountain area and then moved with her family to the Broken Arrow area where she completed her education. Upon completion of her schooling, Mary worked in the restaurant business and then later owned and operated her own café. She moved to California in the late 1950's and was married to Alton O'Neal in 1959. The couple resided in California until 1975 when they returned to Oklahoma and established their home in Bristow. Alton preceded her in death in 1990. Mary loved to sew and garden. She especially enjoyed working in her rose garden. Mary moved to Cleveland in 1995 when for medical reasons she became a resident at Cleveland Manor Nursing Home. She passed away on Thurs. March 7, 2002 at the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of ninety-three years, eleven months, and twenty-two days. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Leler Ruth Mitchell; and five brothers, Willie, Oscar, John, Seth and Earl Ward. Mary is survived by her two brothers, M. T. Ward, Sapulpa and Earnest and his wife Betty Ward of Cleveland and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at the Chapel at the Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating.
