SANTOS ELIAS MUNOZ OCNS - June 18, 2002 - Mrs. Santos Elias Munoz, 94, died Saturday morning, June 15, 2002, at her home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The Rosary for Mrs. Munoz was recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday at St. John Catholic Church followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, (June 18, 2002), also at St. John Catholic Church. Interment was in the White Rose Cemetery in Bartlesville under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket escorts included Sal DeMarco, Johnny R. Jones, Bob Lorson, Albert Servin, Fernando Hess and Charles Landry. A memorial has been established and those who wish, may make their contributions to Daybreak Elder Care 410 S.E. Frank Phillips Blvd Bartlesville, OK 74003 Mrs. Munoz was born October 31, 1907 in Leon, Gto, Mexico to Felipe and Luz (Cervera) Elias. She came to the United States with her family as an infant and they traveled to various states in the Midwest, following her father's work as a cement mason before settling in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, in 1918. Santos met Martin Garcia Munoz in 1928 and they were married on February 14, 1931 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska. They made their home in Bartlesville where Mr. Munoz was employed with the AT & SF Railroad for forty-six years until his retirement. Martin preceded Santos in death February 10, 1999. Mrs. Munoz became a naturalized citizen of the United States in April of 1965. She was a member of the St. Anthony's unit of St. John's Women's Association. For the past three years she was a member of the Elder Care Adult Daybreak. Survivors are: One daughter, Rosetta C. (Rosie) Swindell of Bartlesville; four sisters, Teresa Switzer of Louisville, Kentucky and Sally Carroll, Nancy Bueno and Carmel Jenkins, all of Pawhuska; one brother, Johnny Elias of Enid, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Maria Swindell of Tulsa and Marty Swindell and his wife, Amy, of Bartlesville; thirty-three nieces and nephews and may great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Munoz was preceded in death by her parents, several sisters, one brother, Frank Elias and one daughter, Patricia Munoz, in infancy.
