Mary was born March 30, 1933, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Bailey Vanness and Ruth (Hagen) Emery and on September 19, 1953, in Tulsa, she married Harry D. Benson, who survives at the home in Pawhuska. She was a member of the PEO Chapter EM, Heeko Club, Pawhuska Hospital Auxiliary, Bridge Club, Kappa Alpha Theta and the First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women's Circle and was a Sunday School Teacher. Mary also served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Christ's Cupboard, Osage County Election Board, The Blood Mobile and was a former Cub Scout Leader. Survivors in addition to her husband are: a son and daughter-in-law, Harry E. "Hank" and Patti Benson; four daughters and sons-in-law, Anne B. and Bill Sellers, Ruth B. and David King, Catherine L. and Charles "Chuck" Allred, Nancy D. and Robert "Bob" Stillman; seventeen grandchildren; Matthew and Maliinda Benson, John, Mary, Virginia and Benjamin Sellers; Jonathan, Rachel, Rebekah and Sarah King; Jane and Leslie Allred; Rebecca, Stephanie, Elizabeth "Betsy", Robert "Bobby" and Michael Stillman; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Benson Rogers and husband, Ray; four nieces and two nephews; Kelli Pederson, Julie Rogers, Noelle Rogers, Virginia Hart, Richard Sittel and John Sittel; and a host of other family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Keith Rogers. Funeral services were held June 6, in the First Presbyterian Church, Pawhuska, with Reverend Scott Fischer officiating. Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska.
