MARY LOU CLIFTON DEPUTY OCNS - July 16, 2002 - Mrs. Mary Lou Clifton Deputy passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at her home in Wilmington, Delaware. She was born September 22, 1926 in Seneca, Missouri, the daughter of Chester Allen Clifton and Loreene (Smith) Clifton and was a graduate of Pawhuska High School and Oklahoma State University. Mrs. Loreene Clifton owned Clifton's Gift Shop in Pawhuska which, although now owned by Joe and Arlena Trumbly, still bears the Clifton name. Mrs. Deputy was a member of Limestone Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware and recently retired from St. James Episcopal Church in Wilmington after serving as secretary for thirty years. She had previously worked for seven years at the DuPont Company and was a piano teacher. Mrs. Deputy is survived by her husband of fifty years, Hershal J. Deputy Jr.; three sons, Hershal Deputy III of Sulphur Springs, Colorado, David C. of Downingtown, Pennsylvania and Steven H. of Alpharetta, Georgia, and eight grandchildren. Interment in the Pawhuska Cemetery will be private. A memorial service will be held at Limestone Presbyterian Church in Wilmington at a later date.
