She was born May 23, 1926 in Okesa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Omer and Jennie Nightengale. Cleo graduated from Pawhuska High School and was retired from the Osage County Assessor's office. She was proud to be the first lady in Oklahoma to work with the White House to reduce the National Debt. She was a member of the First Christian Church, enjoyed cooking and quilting. Cleo loved living in Pawhuska with life long friends, relatives and neighbors. Survivors include her husband, Billy Mashunkashey; five children and their spouses, George and Chere Ricker, Bill Jr. and Judy Mashunkashey, J.R. and Benita Caton, Sam and Jenny Miller, Joe Ben Mashunkashey, Mary Jane Mashunkashey; two step children, John Henry Mashunkashey and Linda Kay Hinman; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a brother, Jack Nightengale and wife, Cletha; a sister Kitty Salisbury; numerous nieces, nephews and special family friend, Neva Howell. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Richard (Dock) Nightengale and four sisters, Margaret Nightengale, Elizabeth Newberry, Nora Warehime and Letha McCabe. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska. In lieu of other remembrances, contributions may be made to the City of Pawhuska Flag Fund as Cleo was so proud of the City's new Flag Plaza. Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, is in charge of arrangements.
