Mrs. Naomi Sumpter dies: rites Saturday 1962 Mrs.Charles (Naomi)Sumpter, 67, 1214 E. 14th Street, died at the Pawhuska city Hospital Thursday following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Sumpter, was born at Keukuk, Indian Territory, Okla. on December 20, 1894 and was the daughter of Robert and Emma Avery. She was married to Charles Sumpter at Blanchard, Okla. on Jan 1, 1914. The family moved to Pawhuska in 1919. Mrs. Sumpter was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband: charles Sumpter of the home: and six sons: Luther Sumpter and Deck Sumpter of Pawhuska, Okla., Roy Sumpter of Wichita, Kansas, James of Ralston, Okla. Paul Sumpterof Santa Maria, California:and Dee Sumpter of Avalon, California. Also, six daughters: Tommie Carson of Amarillo, Texas, Johnnie Tancey,Bartlesville, Okla., Winona Cole of Houston, Tx.,Anita Smith of Tulsa, Okla.,Betty Wood of Arkansas City, Kansas, Jeannie Christie of Wichita Falls, TX. Also three sisters: Mrs. Jessie Dixon, of Okla. City, Okla.,Mrs. Ollie Harris, Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Mina Harris, Seattle, Washington. There are 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Johnson Funeral home at 4 pm Saturday with the Rev. W. Dean Rainwater in charge. Burial will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery, Pawhuska, Okla, Osage County.
