He was the son of Earl and Jewell Goodman. Paul was raised in a Christian home of the Assembly of God faith. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at the age of thirteen at a church cap near Waurisha Creek in Osage County near Prue. He attended school in Prue, but was required to quit in the ninth grade in order to help his mother raise his younger siblings when his father passed away. Paul began a career as a fitter/welder in 1951 when he accepted employment with National Tank Company. In 1962, he left National Tank to work for Con Rad Industries, where he continued to work as a fitter/welder until 1974. He then moved to a job with Miller Exchange. He returned to Con Rad Industries in 1974, working for the next ten years before he retired in 1984, when the company closed its doors. Paul spoke often of the good people he worked with, his friends, Herman Boyd, Ed Spencer and J. W. Caywood. Paul and his wife, Cloan Pogue at a country western dance at the American Legion Hut in Cleveland, Oklahoma in the fall of 1952. Paul and Cloan were married on August 7, 1954 in Hominy, Oklahoma. They raised two children in the Prue area, Wendell and Lisa. The couple had a wonderful life together and would have celebrated their forty-seventh anniversary this year. Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved playing cards, especially pitch and poker. He passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of seventy years, five months and three days. He was preceded in death by his parents. Paul is survived by his wife, Cloan of the home; a son and his wife, Wendell and Kimberly Goodman of Prue, Oklahoma; a daughter, Lisa Ann Goodman of Midwest City, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Candi Lea and Zachary Earl Goodman, both of Prue, Oklahoma and Lanie Ann Goodman of Midwest City, Oklahoma; three brothers, Eugene Goodman of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Benny and Bobby Joe Goodman, both of Prue, Oklahoma; a sister, Mazie June Horton of Prue, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and three aunts, Faye Morrison and Osta Watts, both of Harriet, Arkansas and Pearl Frailey of Owasso, Oklahoma. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2001 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel in Cleveland, with Robert Annett officiating. Burial was under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
