Powell, 47, Havana, Kan., died in Arkansas City, Kan., Friday, Nov. 11, 1983. Services will be at 9 a.m., Tuesday in Strode Chapel and at 3 p.m. in the Christian Church of Tyro, Kan., Rev. David Bycroft officiating. Burial will be in Havana Cemetery, under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. He was born March 15, 1936 in Stillwater, son of C.L. and Mildred (Blazier) Powell. He grew up and attended high school in Stillwater, later becoming a roughneck. Powell married Carol Huckaby in Stillwater, Aug. 21, 1955. The couple moved to Enid in 1962, where he worked as a mechanic. They moved to Havana in 1970, where he worked as a pipeline mechanic until his death. He was a member of the Tyro Christian Church. Powell is survived by his widow of Havana, Kan., two sons, Ed Powell, Hennessey; Doyle W. of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Roy (Cynthia) Hodges, Coffeyville; Toni and Tammie of the home; six grandchildren; two brothers, Leon Powell, Portland, Ore., and Loren Powell, Enid; four sisters, Mrs. Jack (Geraldine) Hoffman, Stillwater; Mrs. Ed (Fern) Newton, Mobile, Ala.; Mrs. Jim (Shirley) Dennison, Stanley, N.M. and Linda Powell, Stillwater.
