Powell Memorial Cemetery--Hominy OK The Hominy News - Progress Vol. 34, No. 12 March 20, 2002 Page 5 Jerry Arnold Reynolds Services for Jerry "Jiggs" Reynolds were 10:30 a.m. Fri. March 15, 2002 at Verdigris United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Seale officiating. Burial followed at 2:00 p.m. at A. J. Powell Cemetery in Hominy. Jiggs passed away on Tues. March 12, 2002. He was 85. Born in Salem. WV., to Reuben and Ora Nowery Reynolds, Jiggs was reared and educated in Hominy where the family moved when he was a small child. He graduated from Hominy High School, worked for a time in Oklahoma City and joined the Navy in 1942, serving as a Seabee in WWII. Following his honorable discharge, Jiggs and his brother Eugene formed the Reynolds Brothers Company, primarily a heating and air conditioning business in Tulsa which they owned and operated until 1963. Jiggs' next venture was into the construction business also in the Tulsa area. It was during this time that he and Jennie Carpenter were married. The couple made their home in Bixby and were blessed with one daughter, Cheryl. Jiggs never formally retired, but a stroke in 1994 required that he make his home at the Claremore Veteran's Center. An outdoorsman, Jiggs like fishing and hunting, especially quail hunting. He always carried a dictionary with him, and had a goal of learning a new word every day. He played the harmonica and piano, entertaining his nieces and nephews. Jiggs is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Hamill and her husband, Duane, of Brandon, MS; granddaughters, Kelly and Deanna Hamill, also of Brandon; sister, Eldora Beaver of Ft. Scott, KS; sister-in-law, Kathryn Reynolds of Verdigris; and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews who all loved, admired and respected him dearly.
