She died just 7 hours and 5 minutes short of her 104th birthday, November 1, 2001. Bertha and husband Eddie E. Roberts lived in Hominy from 1923 to 1942. They were farmers, worked in grocery stores and he was a truck driver. Bertha Roberts then made her home in Edmond since 1952 when she and her husband, Eddie E. Roberts, moved to Edmond from Oklahoma City. Bertha made her home at 101 East 21 until she entered the Heartland Health Center in June of this year. Bertha was born in Crawford County Arkansas, near the Town of Chester, on November 1, 1897, to Ethridge Emmerson Carter and Della (Friddle) Carter. Bertha had six brothers and two sisters. On June 14, 1917 she married Eddie E. Roberts in Polk County, Arkansas. From this union came two sons and three daughters. Her husband Eddie of Edmond, preceded her in death in 1969. Her daughter Edna Mae, preceded her in death at the age of 22 months in 1920. Another daughter Hattie Allison died in 1985 in Florence, Alabama. Bertha is survived by two sons, Alvin Roberts and wife Edith of Hominy, and grandson Al Roberts also of Hominy and Melvin Roberts and wife JoAnn of Edmond, one daughter, Hallie Wachtel, of Edmond, 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
