Preston went to meet his maker on June 27, 2001. He was 85 years old. A life long resident of Hominy, he received his education in the Hominy Schools before joining the Army. After his honorable discharge he married Mary Zotigh. Together they lived on a farm west of Hominy until her death in 1987. It was then he moved in with his granddaughter Mary. At the time of his death he was a resident of the Hominy Nursing Home. His Osage name was HLU-AH-WAH-KON-TAH. He was roadman of the Morrell Chapter of the Native American Church of which he belonged. His favorite pastime was riding around and being with his grandchildren and great and great-great- grandchildren, which he referred to as "his Gang." He is survived by two sisters Della Logan of Norman and Edda June McNeil of Muskogee; a daughter, Grace Sein of Virginia; a step-daughter, Pauline Kowena of Lawton; four grandchildren Mary and husband mark McKenzie of Hominy; Fannie and husband Terry Richmond of Jennings; Charlie and DeWayne Kowena of Lawton; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Jamie Wikel and Jason Schuld of Hominy; Jennifer, Charles and mary Jo Richmond of Jennings and DeWayne F. Kowena of Lawton; four great-great-grandchildren, Colton Edmonson, Aaleejah and Edgar Crawford and Elizabeth Wikel. Preceding him in death was his wife Mary, his mother and father, a brother and four sisters.
