Mr. King was born November 15, 1939, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, the son of Willima and Mina (Maner) (Horner) King. May 7, 1960, he married Karen Kay Kothe at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was a retired Master Sergeant having served in the United States Air Force from January 8, 1960 until his retirement November 1, 1978. His Air Force career as a Master Avionics Technician took him to Lackland Air Force Base, Texas; Chanute Air Force Base Rantoul, Illinois; Biggs Air Force Base, Fayetteville Air Force Base, North Carolina; Thiele Air Force Base, Greenland; Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City; Elgin Air Force Base, Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, Utah; Zweibruecken Air Base, West Germany and Minot Air Force Base, Minot, North Dakota. He was a member of American Legion Post 198 and American Association of Retired Persons. His greatest interests were his family, gardening with his wife, fixing things and helping others. Survivors include: His wife, Karen Kay King and a son, Clayton Orville King both of the home; two daughters, Tracy Lynn Pidgeon and husband, David of Edwards Air Force Base, California, and Tamara Suzanne Horrell and husband, Chip of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Shannah Pidgeon of San Antonio, Texas, Alaina and Chelsea Pidgeon, both of Edwards Air Force Base, and Garrett and Wes Horrell, both of Tulsa; his brothers, Jerry King of Canon City, Colorado, John King of Baker, Louisiana, Jack King of Wichita, Kansas, and Ira Horner of Woodward, Oklahoma; his sisters, Rosa Tillmans of Derby, Kansas and Margaret King of Wichita; his foster mother, Retta Barnes of Pawhuska; his foster brothers Tim and Merle Barnes, both of Pawhuska; his foster sister, Donna (Barnes) Bryant, Pawhuska; and a host of other family and friends. Mr. King was preceded in death by a son, Matthew William King; his parents, two brothers, Frank Halec Horner and August George Horner, and a sister, Florence Becker. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Edmison officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, is in charge of arrangements.
