Service: November 29, 2002 Robert D. Wheeler, was born April 27, 1935 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to Shelby Charles and Lola Mae (Anderson) Wheeler. Bob grew up Osage, Oklahoma. He graduated from Osage High School. After he graduated Bob moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he began working for Oklahoma Natural Gas. After two years working at ONG; Bob entered the United States Army in 1955. While in the military Bob traveled to many different places; he served in the Vietnam War as well as in Europe. He was active with the Persian Missiles during the Cold War as a Communications Specialist. Bob served for over 20 years in the United States Army during his time he received the following medals: Parachute Badge, Good Conduct Medal- 1st through 5th Awards, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, National Defense Service Medal, two Overseas Bars, six Service Stripes, Expert Badge with Bar. On March 31, 1975 Bob retired as a Sergeant First Class. Bob remained in Colorado and on November 29, 1980 he was united in marriage to Annabelle Lee (Marshall) at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. While living in Colorado Bob and Annie lived on the Western Slope of Colorado in Montrose. In 1995 they moved to Osage, Oklahoma and then in June of 2000 they moved to Hominy, Oklahoma. Bob loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Bob also enjoyed gardening, fishing and collecting eagles. While living in Colorado Bob made a connection with Eagles since that time he began his collection of Eagles. Bob was also a photographer that loved to take pictures of sunsets. Bob was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Hominy Blue Lodge and the Tulsa Scottish Rite. Bob passed away November 12, 2002 at Hominy, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years 6 months nd 15 days. He was preceded in death by Father, Mother, Sister Iris Mc Daniels, Brothers Kenneth and Boyd Step Brother Ray Stryker Stepmother Modene Wheeler. Survived by his Wife, Annie Wheeler, of the home; children, Robert D. Jr. and wife Eileen Wheeler of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Elisabeth and husband Karl Reul of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sisters, Irene Kendrick of Orlando California; Mavis Estes of Orland, California as well as 15 Grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many other friends and family. Memorial Services will be held Friday November 29, 2002 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Hominy with Rev. George Boston officiating.
