The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RICHARD FORREST LEDBETTER OCNS - September 17, 2002 - Richard Forrest Ledbetter, 69, passed away Tuesday, September 17, at his home in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of sixty-nine years, eleven months and twenty-three days. Richard was born September 24, 1932 in Osage, Oklahoma, the son of Charlie and Edna (Lawrence) Ledbetter. As an infant, he moved with his family to Stillwater, Oklahoma where he received his education. August 16, 1953 he married Wilma Maxwell and was later divorced. In 1953, Mr. Ledbetter began employment, working along side his father, with the Sanitation Department for the City of Stillwater. He later transferred to the Waste Water Management Department and remained employed there until he moved to Texas in December, 1977. Upon moving to Texas, Richard was employed as chief engineer of the water treatment plant for the City of Arlington and remained in that capacity for nearly eighteen years until his retirement in 1995. August 23, 1991, Richard and Virginia (Welch) Arnold of Independence, Kansas, were married and, in 1995 the couple moved to Cleveland. Richard was an active and faithful member of the Western Heights Baptist Church in Cleveland. He is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; five daughters, Linda Ledbetter and LaDonna Kuekelhan of Cleveland, Pam Williams of Whitney, Texas, Cathy O'Mara of Elk City, Kansas and Sandy Ledbetter of Irving, Texas; two sons, Richard L. Ledbetter of Arlington, Texas and Forrest (Bud) Ledbetter of Cleveland; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five sister, Dorothy Morris, Shirley Shank and Wilma Mayfield of Stillwater, Margaret Knox of Rex, Georgia and Alma Barbaree of Summerville, South Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 20, at the Western Heights Baptist Church in Cleveland with Reverend David Head officiating.
