Powell Memorial Cemetery Richard Dwayne Haines, a resident of Hominy was born March 28, 1935 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Rhalls and Mildred (Shipman) Haines. Richard attended schools in Hominy and later graduated from Hominy High School in 1953. While Richard was in school he worked for his father in the oil field with Haines Construction located in Hominy, Oklahoma. On June 13, 1953 Richard and Mary Lou (Gaines) were united in marriage in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Richard joined the United States Army and faithfully served his country until he was Honorably Discharged in 1956. Richard and Mary Lou returned to Hominy for a short time; in 1958 they moved to Perryton, Texas in where he continued to work in the oil field they remained there until 1969. Then in 1973 Richard moved to Colorado where he continued working in the oil industry. Richard and Mary Lou always made Hominy there home so in 1988 they moved back to Hominy where they have lived since. Richard collected what he called his “Worldly Good” coins and stamps. He also loved to garden, fish and work on his computer. Richard could fix anything that was broken and had most recently adopted the Hominy High School renovation as one of his projects. He was a member of First Christian Church, Hominy High School Community Assoc. as well as the Disabled Veterans in Greeley, Colorado. Richard passed away July 1, 2002 at his home in Hominy, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years 3 months and 3 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Rhalls Jr. ''Tiny'', Claude and Donald. Survived by his wife, Mary Lou of the home; children Debbie and husband Dan Spaulding of Owasso, Oklahoma; Rick and wife Brenda Haines of Greeley, Colorado; Angela and Pete Molitoris of Westminster, Colorado; Leah and Craig Werner of Fort Collins, Colorado; brother Bill R. Haines of Sterling, Colorado; sister Arzelia Parks of Oglesby, Illnois; grandchildren Joe Spaulding, Lindsay Haines, Sydney Haines, Tara Werner and Corey Werner, great grandchildren, Trey Spaulding and Taylor Spaulding as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2002 at 11:00 am in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery with services officiated by Dr. Larry Wilson. With services under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
