The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ROGER DEAN THOMPSON OCNS - February 14, 2000 - Roger Dean Thompson, 70, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, passed away February 11, 2000 at Coffeyville Regional medical Center. Mr. Thompson was born September 15, 1929 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Clifford and Beulah (Iverson) Thompson. He completed elementary school in Buffalo Center and Graduated from Mason City (Iowa) High School. In 1948 Mr. Thompson enlisted in The United States Air Force and January 18, 1950 married Dorothy Burk in Enid, Oklahoma. Following his military discharge, after six years service, he began civil service work as a crash rescue fireman at Air Force bases in Enid, Oklahoma and Amarillo, Texas. He retired in 1965, moved to Coffeyville, Kansas and retired from Funk Manufacturing in 1976. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Coffeyville, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home; two sons, Gary Thompson and Danny Thompson both of Coffeyville, Kansas; two sisters, Verlaine Anderson of Buffalo Center, Iowa and Zola Smith of California; two brothers, Keith Thompson and Dick Thompson both of Waterloo, Iowa; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one step granddaughter and one step great granddaughter. Funeral services were held Monday, February 14, at St. Paul's Lutheran church with burial in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. The family would welcome memorials to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church or The American Heart Association. Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Service of Coffeyville, Kansas was in charge of arrangements.
