He was born January 19, 1929 in San Antonio, Texas and attended Marquette Catholic School and Central High School in Tulsa before joining the U.S. Army and serving in Japan. Upon returning home, Ralph attended Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma and graduated from Tulsa University Law School in 1956. He practiced law in Tulsa and in 1964 he was appointed Assistant City Prosecutor and in 1965 was appointed Chief Municipal Judge and later was Assistant to Tulsa Mayor James Maxwell. In 1973 he was elected to the Osage Tribal Council, served twenty years and was re-elected in 1998, serving until his death. Ralph was a member of the Holy Family Cathedral, Oklahoma Bar Association and American Legion Post 198 in Pawhuska. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Katherine Mathes Adkisson of the home in Tulsa; a son, Louis Alred and wife Kay of Tulsa; a brother, Ray Adkisson of Palm Springs, California; grandchildren, John Louis and Mary Kay Alred and Jill Sykes all of Tulsa; great grandchildren, Lauren C. Brown, Zachary A. Alred and Dylan A. Sykes all of Tulsa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Leahy and Cleo Revard Leahy, Tulsa and his father, E. Ray Adkisson, Sr., Longview, Texas; a sister, Virginia Lee Barnett, Tulsa and a son, Jack Alred, Jr., Pawhuska. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2000, at Johnson's Funeral Home in Pawhuska. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska with Johnson Funeral Director's in charge of arrangements.
