ALEXANDER OCNS - May 8, 2002 - Irene B. Alexander who was eighty-five years, eight months and fifteen days old, entered into eternal rest, May 5, 2002 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Irene was born August 20, 1916 in Ordway, Colorado, the daughter of Rosa Ann Bandy Separs and Dennis Spears. She was reared and educated in Osage and Hominy, Oklahoma and later reared her family in the Hominy area. She was a member of the House of Prayer for many years and also attended the Assembly of God church in Hominy. She was very involved in her church and loved going to the nursing home to minister to the residents. She also enjoyed hosting bible studies at her home along with hymnal singing. She was a great cook and loved flowers. A very caring woman, loving mother and grandmother, she loved spending time with her family and having her grandchildren around her. Irene is survived by her nine children, daughters Ina Ruth and husband Jim Thrasher of Hominy, Phyllis and husband, Floyd Crenshaw of Hominy, Jeanie Horton of Hominy, Norma Ray of Hominy, Deborah and husband Norman Purcell of Cleveland, Don Alexander of Hominy, Raymond and wife, Carlotta Alexander of Hominy; sons James and wife, Wanda Alexander of Sand Springs and John Alexander of Cleveland; three sisters, Maudie Koenneman of Copan, Oklahoma, Ruby Carl of Shidler, Oklahoma and Marie Vann of Pryor, Oklahoma; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren and six great- great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends; and caregivers, Marie Pippin, Carolyn Prichard and Norma Jean Peters. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, a great-great grandson and a granddaughter. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at the Assembly of God Church in Hominy with Reverend Clifton Phelps officiating. Serving as pall bearers were her grandsons, Mark Ray, Paul Purcell, Brad Standridge, Jeff Alexander, Dale Crenshaw and Gary Alexander. Honorary Pall Bearers were Steve Thrasher, Terry Alexander and Bryan Ray. Music was by Beth and Reverend Clifton Phelps, Shirley Graham and Wayne Brown. Interment was in A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery, Hominy. The family entrusted Powell Funeral Home with service arrangements.
