Mr. Carpenter was born June 10, 1925 at Barnsdall, the son of Franklin David and Thelma Viola (Lytle) Carpenter and graduated with the Barnsdall High School 1946 graduating class. He married Patsy Ann Grider September 27, 1947 in Barnsdall and worked for the Phillips Petroleum Company and the Railway Express Company. He later was driector of the family planning program of the Community Action Program before going to work for the State Department of health as an inspector, retiring in 1986. he was the first president of the Barnsdall Jaycee's, was a past member of the Barnsdall Masonic Lodge and a member of the Barnsdall First Christian Church. Survivors are: his wife, Patsy of the home; three sons, Stuart Carpenter and his wife, Gail of Coweta, Oklahoma; Timothy D. Carpenter, Jeffrey L. Carpenter and his wife Juanita all of Barnsdall; one daughter, Tammy L. Keene and her husband, Ron of Barnsdall; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildrena nd one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nova Hendrix. Funeral services were held Monday, June 10, at the Barnsdall First Christian Church with Mr. Jim inglett officiating. Interment was in the Ethel Reece Cemetery, Barnsdall, under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home.
