Clewien Jr. Memorial services were held Monday, April 29, 2002 at Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Capitan, N.M. for Raymond Edward (Sonny) Clewien Jr. He passed away Wednesday, April 24 at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Mr. Clewien was born July 4, 1934 on a ranch near Boston Pool, near Cleveland, Okla. He was the son of Raymond E. and Lorena M. Adams Clewien. He began his education at Boston Pool until eighth grade then attended Cleveland Public Schools where he graduated. His first marriage was to Sandy Armstrong. The couple made their home on several ranches in Oklahoma and New Mexico. She preceded him in death in 1989. On Feb. 14, 1991 he married Frances Payne of Vernon, Texas. They made their home in Encino, N.M. After retiring from L. T. Lewis Estate in Encino in 1997, the couple moved to Capitan. Mr. Clewien was a member of United Methodist Church in Capitan. Mr. Clewien was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandy; his parents; and a sister, Barbara Jean Adams Sarcoxie Serle. Survivors include his wife, Francis, of the home; an adopted daughter, Barbara Clewien of Florida; two brothers, Edward R. Clewien of Mannford, Okla., and Mike Clewien of Cleveland; a sister, Mary A. Wardlow of Dallas, Texas; three stepchildren, Dan Hayes of Lee's Summit, Mo., Mark Hayes of San Antonio, Texas, and Liz Jones of Mustang, Okla.; seven grandchildren; Butch Braden, a close family friend; and many nieces and nephews.
