"MONK" JOWELL OCNS - May 20, 2002 - Word has been received of the death of former resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Raymond B. "Monk" Jowell, who passed away on May 15, 2002. Mr. Jowell was a cattleman, rancher and a professional polo player (4 goal handicap). He was a graduate of the New Mexico Military Academy and a college graduate. He served in the Army during WWII and was discharged at the rank of captain. When in Pawhuska "Monk" was the Foreman/Manager of The Oxley Ranch, southwest of Pawhuska. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jomarie Jowell. He is survived by his wife, Elleen Jowell, son Myrl Jowell and daughters Janet Van Zandt and Jackie Simpleman, six grand children and six great- grandchildren. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, May 18, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Trinidad, Colorado. Graveside service was Monday, May 20, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements for Mr. Jowell were made under the direction of the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home, Trinidad, Colorado.
