He was born December 3, 1928, in Havana, Arkansas to Melvin Pete and Leona G. Robertson Owens. August 21, 1949, in Ralston, Oklahoma Oscar married Ina Mae Gaines and they have resided in Wynona since 1975. Oscar was very artistic and enjoyed painting and playing the fiddle, banjo and guitar. In his spare time he enjoyed playing music at area nursing homes. Oscar is survived by his wife, Ina Mae Owens of the home; seven sons, Jackie Dan Owens of Fresno, California; Larry Leon Owens of Bixby, Oklahoma; Danny Ray Owens and Ronald Dale Owens, both of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; Jerry Wayne Owens, Allen Lee Owens and William Boyd Owens all of Wynona; one daughter, Beverly Ann Crowley of Wynona; a brother, Orba Ray Owens of Wynona; a sister, Rachel Pearl Wineberger of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; twenty-five grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; three nieces; three nephews and numerous cousins. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Donald Lee Owens and a sister, Audrey Owens. Graveside services for Oscar Owens will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2002 at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma under the direction of Powell Funeral Home.
